From J.W. Anderson to Jonathan Anderson taking the helm of the Spanish heritage brand LOEWE under the LVMH group, this Northern Irish fashion designer, despite his youth, has already become one of the most influential new forces in London’s fashion scene. Last year, he triumphed over numerous designers, winning both the Best Menswear and Womenswear Designer awards at the British Fashion Awards. As for Jonathan’s future, it’s undoubtedly bright and promising.

Born in 1984, he initially pursued acting in Washington, D.C., but after being inspired by the beautiful costumes on stage, he returned to London to study menswear design at the London College of Fashion (LCF). He also worked as a window dresser at Prada, beginning his career in fashion.

In 2008, J.W. Anderson launched his first menswear collection, and two years later, he introduced his womenswear collection. He is known for creating fluid lines through three-dimensional cutting techniques, and he enjoys exploring the clash of traditional and modern aesthetics, drawing on multicultural influences. He boldly breaks the boundaries between menswear and womenswear, creating a gender-fluid concept that sparked a unisex fashion trend in the international fashion scene.

Jonathan Anderson, who excels at observing personalities and maintaining close interaction with consumers, begins every season’s story with a character setting.What others may see as complex and ever-changing design ideas are, for him, simple thoughts. He blends the style and emotions of this era into the basic structure of his garments. As he says, "What people think is often irrelevant; what people feel is everything."
